Pat and Linda McCann

I have been involved with Water For People for over 15 years as a board member, board chair and now volunteer. Linda and I have been fortunate to be able to see the amazing work that Water For People does in India, Africa and Latin America. Over the years the model has evolved to be even more impactful and we know that the donations we have made are making lasting changes in the lives of many people who now have access to safe water and sanitation. About 10 years ago, on a visit to a village in West Bengal India we met a young girl who was about 7 and she was so happy that her family now had clean water right near her home. Over the years I have thought back about this girl and wondered how her life was changed because of this simple act. Did she get to stay in school? Did she have more time to play with her friends? Did her family have more time to earn money? Was she healthier? Is the pump still working? Because Water For People has such a strong focus on sustainability, I am confident that she is still enjoying the benefits from Water For People’s work. As we developed our estate plan we considered many worthy organizations but we decided to make Water For People a priority because we are so convinced of the impact it will make.
